Vegan Turkish Pasta

vegan turkish pasta

I’ll show you how to make this delicious Vegan Turkish Pasta recipe! Inspired by Anna Paul’s TikTok viral Turkish pasta, this dish is creamy, garlicky, buttery (vegan butter, of course), and super easy to make.

All you need is pasta, plain plant-based yogurt, some veggie ground, and a few simple seasonings to recreate this flavour-packed bowl of comfort food. Believe me, this will quickly become one of your go-to recipes!

Traditional Turkish pasta is usually made with dairy-based yogurt, butter, and often topped with an egg. To make this dish completely plant-based, I swapped out the animal products for easy-to-find vegan alternatives — and trust me, it is still absolutely delicious, creamy, and garlicky.

Instead of regular yogurt, I used unsweetened vegan coconut yogurt, but any plain dairy-free yogurt will work. I also used vegan butter to make that delicious paprika-infused sauce. And instead of eggs or meat, a flavourful veggie ground mix using store-bought veggie ground that you can easily find nowadays (if you want to use tofu instead, check out my Ground Beef Tofu recipe).

Recipe for Vegan Turkish Pasta

This Vegan Turkish Pasta is super easy to make using simple ingredients you can find in most grocery stores. I used plain coconut yogurt for the creamy garlic sauce and store-bought veggie ground for the protein. If you have a hard time finding veggie ground, you can simply make your own by following my Ground Beef Tofu recipe!

Even though this recipe looks fancy, it’s very low-effort and comes together quickly. The pasta is coated in garlicky yogurt, topped with seasoned vegan “meat,” and drizzled with vegan paprika butter, giving you a deliciously rich and satisfying meal with a hint of freshness and with minimal work.

How to Make Vegan Turkish Pasta

Cook Your Pasta: Boil your pasta according to package directions. Use any shape you like – I prefer to use shapes like farfalle or rotini, but it’s really up to you. While the pasta cooks, you can basically make everything else!

Make the Veggie Ground Mix: In a pan, heat some oil over medium-high heat and sauté your diced onion until it softens (about 1 minute). Add the veggie ground along with all the seasonings: black pepper, onion powder, paprika, and salt. Stir and cook until heated through and slightly browned. Alternatively, you can make a tofu-based ground “beef” following this recipe instead.

Add everything into a bowl: thinly sliced cucumbers, shredded tofu, some vegan cream cheese (optional), a generous amount of vegan mayo, a splash of soy sauce, some sesame seeds, and diced avocado if you’re using it.

Prepare the Garlic Yogurt Sauce: In a bowl, combine your plain vegan yogurt, salt, and minced garlic (or garlic powder) and mix well.

Prepare the Paprika Butter Sauce: In a small saucepan, melt your vegan butter on medium heat, then stir in the paprika.

Chop the toppings: Slice cherry tomatoes or grape tomatoes in half and finely chop your fresh parsley for the garnishes!

Time to assemble:

Grab a bowl or plate. Add a serving of cooked pasta, then top with:

  • A generous spoonful of garlic yogurt sauce (around 1/3 – 1/2 cup)
  • 1/4 of the prepared Veggie Ground Mix
  • A generous drizzle of paprika butter (around 2 tbsp per plate)
  • Tomatoes and fresh parsley

Repeat for each plate or meal prep container

Enjoy Right Away (or Meal Prep It!)

This dish tastes great warm or cold. Enjoy it warm right away or prepare in advance to enjoy later. If you want to eat it cold, you can assemble the whole thing and store it as is. If you want to enjoy this dish warm, store the components separately so you can heat the different ingredients as needed. If you are meal prepping, the ingredients can be stored in a tightly sealed container in the fridge for up to 4 days.

I’m looking to make my own crumbles using TVP. If you had to guess, how much volume of veggie crumbles did you use? Maybe 2 cups? I know the weight of the prepared ones won’t match the TVP and I’m just trying to have an idea of how much to make.

Hi! I just weighed the veggie ground and it was around 400g. I haven’t tried making it with TVP so if you’re making your own, I just suggest making about 4 servings worth of the TVP.
