This vegan Gigi Hadid pasta recipe is inspired by the viral TikTok of Gigi Hadid’s spicy vodka pasta recipe! This recipe is vegan and you can make it without vodka if you prefer!
Gigi Hadid’s pasta sauce is creamy, slightly spicy and altogether takes only 12 mins to make!
It’s a quick & tasty vegan dinner idea that’s also unique since I typically don’t use vodka in my pasta but was so curious to try it!
Recipe for Vegan Gigi Hadid Pasta
Gigi Hadid’s pasta is simple and easy to make! To make Gigi Hadid’s pasta vegan, it’s a simple swap. We are using cashews to make our own vegan heavy cream. It’s as simple as blending together softened cashews with water and a little salt.
To make this recipe efficiently, simply soak your cashews in advance the night before (or just for a few hours) and that way, you can whip up this pasta in no time! But if you forgot to soak or if you don’t have time, simply boil your cashews for around 15 minutes with some water to allow them to soften.
Cashews make a fantastic substitute for anything creamy – it is one of the best ingredients to make a creamy and rich sauce without using any dairy.
Vodka is optional as I think this will taste really great even without it! But Gigi Hadid used vodka, so that’s what we’re going to do~
The recipe is vegan, soy-free and has options to make it gluten-free using GF pasta.
Ingredients
- Pasta of choice (use gluten-free if desired)
- Cashews
- Vodka (optional)
- Olive Oil
- Onion
- Garlic
- Tomato Paste
- Red pepper flakes
- Vegan butter (optional)
- Salt & Pepper
- Optional garnish: basil and/or parsley, vegan parmesan, more crushed red pepper flakes
How To Make Gigi Hadid’s Pasta Vegan
To make your vegan pasta cream sauce, make sure you soften your cashews by soaking them in water overnight OR boil them with water for about 15-20 minutes. Drain once done.
Meanwhile, cook your choice of pasta al dente according to instructions.
While pasta is cooking, heat olive oil on medium-high heat on a non-stick pan and cook your diced onion for a couple of minutes until they begin to soften.
Add minced garlic and saute for another minute or so.
Add tomato paste, stir and cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently.
Add in vodka (optional) and allow to cook for another couple of minutes, stirring frequently. Turn heat down low.
Take the softened cashews and add them into a small blender along with 2 tbsp water and a pinch of salt. Blend until smooth to create a cashew cream pasta sauce.
Add the cashew cream and crushed red chilli flakes into the pan and stir on medium heat.
Once pasta is cooked, save some of the pasta water (around 1/2 cup) and strain. Add the cooked pasta into the pan with a splash of the pasta water and stir until well combined.
Let the pasta cook with the sauce on medium heat, adding in small amounts of pasta water as needed, until pasta is cooked to your liking.
Add vegan butter (optional) and salt and pepper to taste.
When serving, top with basil or parsley, vegan parmesan, more crushed red pepper flakes and/or salt and pepper and enjoy!
