I’ll show you how to make this tofu wings recipe in 17 mins using your fave wings sauce, extra firm tofu and 10 simple seasoning ingredients!
These crispy tofu wings are a delicious high-protein dish you can whip up fast using simple ingredients you have at home! Perfect for parties, game nights, Superbowl or whenever you’re craving some delicious vegan wings.
Recipe for Tofu Wings (Vegan)
To make tofu wings, all you have to do is coat tofu in a flavourful batter, breaded, and then cooked in either an air fryer or oven resulting in a crispy yet tender on-the-inside texture.
This comes together in less than 20 minutes (even less if you’re using an air fryer for tofu wings!) You have the option to toss them in any sauce to make them spicy, smokey, sweet or savoury! I like using Buffalo or barbecue sauce! These tofu wings are truly delicious, it’ll be so hard not to eat all of them by yourself!!
Tip: If you want a more meaty texture you can marinate your tofu with veggie or vegan “chicken” stock then freeze and thaw when you’re ready to make them.
Feel free to use whatever wing sauce you like!
The recipe is vegan, nut-free and gluten-free (just double-check the products you get)!

How To Make Vegan Wings with Tofu
If you’re making tofu wings using an oven, preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. If you’re making air fryer tofu wings, preheat the air fryer to 390 °F (or adjust for your specific model).
Now prepare your tofu! If you desire a firm consistency, drain the block of extra firm tofu and wrap it in a clean kitchen towel. Place something heavy on top, like a cutting board or a few books, and let it sit for about 10-15 minutes to press out any excess liquid. This step is optional tho, especially if you want to make these vegan wings as fast as possible.
In the meantime, prepare the dry mixture. In a shallow bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, black pepper, and salt. Mix well.
In a separate bowl prepare the wet mixture. Combine the unsweetened non-dairy milk, apple cider vinegar, vegan sauce (ex. Buffalo sauce or barbecue sauce), and flour. Whisk until smooth.
In a third shallow bowl, add breadcrumbs.
Once the tofu is pressed (most of the water is drained out), cut it into bite-sized cubes or thick strips like wing shapes.
Take each tofu wing and coat it in your dry mixture. Then dip it into the wet mixture, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, coat it in the breadcrumbs and lightly press with your fingers to seal the breadcrumbs. Repeat this process until all the tofu pieces are coated.
Place the coated tofu wings on the prepared baking sheet (skip if using air fryer), making sure they are not touching each other. If desired, you can lightly spray or brush them with oil for added crispiness.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-18 minutes, or until the tofu is crispy and golden brown. Flip the tofu halfway through the cooking time to ensure even browning. If using an air fryer, place the coated tofu wings in the air fryer basket and cook for about 10-12 minutes. Flip them halfway through for even cooking.
While the tofu wings are baking, warm the vegan sauce (Buffalo or Barbecue sauce) in a small saucepan over low heat, if desired.
Once the wings are done, remove them from the oven/air fryer and transfer the crispy tofu wings to a large mixing bowl.
Pour your warm sauce, highly recommend Frank’s Red Hot Sauce or barbecue sauce over the tofu, and toss gently until all the pieces are coated. You can also serve the tofu wings with the sauce on the side for dipping. Enjoy!
