This vegan tempeh BLT makes 1 sandwich, so just multiply servings for how many you need to make. I love making tempeh bacon in my air fryer, which is what I do in this recipe, but you can also cook your tempeh in a non-stick pan!
Recipe for Tempeh BLT
This is a vegan version of a BLT sandwich. Instead of bacon, we are using tempeh slices and instead of regular mayonnaise, we will be using vegan mayo!
For this vegan BLT sandwich, all you need is some store-bought tempeh bacon, bread, lettuce, tomato and vegan mayonnaise.

Ingredients
- Tempeh bacon
- Bread slices of choice
- Lettuce
- Tomato
- Vegan mayonnaise
This recipe is meat-free, vegan and nut-free.
To make a gluten-free tempeh BLT, use gluten-free bread slices.
How To Make Tempeh BLT (Vegan)
1. Start making your tempeh BLT by preparing your tempeh slices. Rub or spray a little oil on each piece of tempeh (if desired) for a more crispy finish.
2. If you want your tempeh air-fried, place tempeh pieces (not touching each other) on a lined air fryer tray and air fry at 400 degrees F for 6-8 minutes or until cooked to your liking. The result should be slightly crispy on the outside but not burnt.
3. If you want to cook on a non-stick frying pan, just cook based on package directions.
4. Meanwhile, toast slices of bread, wash and prepare tomato and lettuce.
5. Next, add vegan mayonnaise on each slice of bread, add lettuce, tomato and the fried tempeh bacon. Close up the sandwich and enjoy!
