How To Make Air Fryer Waffle Fries
Rinse potatoes with water and you can choose to peel the skin or not. I found that it didn’t make too much of a difference so I left the skin on.
Place the potato on a cutting board, laying it lengthwise. You can use either a crinkle potato cutter or a food slicer (in the waffle fry setting). Cut the potato and after each cut, rotate the potato around 90 degrees before doing another cut. This will create the waffle fry pattern.
While cutting all the potatoes, add cut potatoes into a large bowl filled with cold water. Repeat with remaining potatoes.
Let the potatoes soak for about 5-10 minutes which will allow the potatoes to become more crispy (optional). Meanwhile, you can turn on your air fryer to preheat (400 degrees F) although this part is not necessary.
Drain the potatoes and place them on top of paper towel and gently pat them dry. Don’t worry about making sure they are completely dry.
Add potatoes into a large mixing bowl, along with oil, salt and garlic powder (and other spices of your choice). Toss until well-combined.
Add potatoes into the air fryer tray, with minimal overlapping (you may have to do this in multiple batches), and air fry at 400 degrees F for 15 minutes, tossing or flipping halfway through, or until the potatoes are crispy on the outside and cooked through in the inside. The cooking time may vary depending on your air fryer and how thick you’ve cut your potatoes. Repeat with another batch if you have more potatoes left.
Give the waffle fries a taste and add any more salt or other seasonings as desired. Enjoy!
